From Canvases to Kicks: My Artistic Journey of Exploration

After completing my first canvas, I didn’t want to stop. I’m not the kind of artist who sticks to one style or subject. I enjoy exploring—trying new things, different surfaces, and unexpected ideas. My creativity thrives in variety.

At the time, life at home was busy too. My son Nicholas was always around, and I wanted to spend quality time with him while still creating. That’s when we started painting Easter eggs together—fun, colorful, and completely unstructured. Each one was a small burst of joy, and it quickly became one of our favorite bonding moments.

It was also Oshimen mania in Naples—local craftmakers were creating statues, cakes, and even Easter eggs inspired by Victor Osimhen, as Napoli was on the verge of winning their historic second Serie A title. So, just for fun, I painted my own “Oshimen egg” as part of our Easter collection. It was playful and tongue-in-cheek, but it became one of Nicholas’ favorites.

Then, my wife came up with an idea:
“Why don’t you try painting your Nike sneakers?”
At first, I laughed. But then I thought—why not?

I ordered the Tarrago Sneakers Verf Starter Kit from Amazon—a base paint and brush set made specifically for sneakers. The moment it arrived, I transformed my Nike sneakers into a custom art project. I experimented with color gradients, bold outlines, and fun characters. It felt fresh and exciting to wear something that was uniquely mine.

Not long after, my wife brought home a pair of white Primark sneakers and said, “Here, try something different on these too.” Another canvas, another challenge—and I loved it. With those, I pushed the designs even further, combining playful details with clean lines and vibrant color.

What I didn’t realize then was that my wife may have been testing my skills… because what came next was even more personal and unforgettable. Anticipating something special, I also ordered the Maydear Face Painting Kit—a safe, non-toxic set perfect for more delicate projects. Let’s just say, she had a surprise plan that involved both me and Nicholas… and a growing baby bump.

But that beautiful story deserves its own spotlight—coming next on the blog: belly painting for our second son, Thomas.

Stay tuned 💙
